My name is Jamie Kidwell and this is my ninth year teaching here at Clark! I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade for the last 8 years! This is year I am moving on up and teaching 5th grade for the first time! This school year I will be teaching English/Language Arts twice a day for all of 5th and in my homeroom I will teach Science, Social Studies, and Writing. I am also the 4th/5th grade Student Council Sponsor! I love being a part of student council and help forming future Warrior Leaders! I am originally from Greenwood. I have three brothers (Jeff, Joey, and Jon). I am the SUPER proud Aunt of 2 nephews and 2 nieces! My older brother teaches at WCHS! I live in Indianapolis with my husband, Kevin and our adorable dog, Tootsie.
What brought me here?
I knew I wanted to be a teacher at a young age. I have always loved school and working with children. I graduated from Center Grove High in 2003. After high school, I packed up and moved to Evansville and attended the Univeristy of Southern Indiana. I graduated from USI in 2007. After college, I came back home to search for a teaching job! I found my place in Clark Pleasant as an IA at Pleasant Crossing, I covered a maternity leave at Pleasant Crossing, came out to Clark and covered another maternity leave, and was then offered a teaching job at Clark! I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my day than teaching! I am very thankful to work with such wonderful teachers, great kids, and very supportive families.
Educational Philosophy
I truly believe that every child has the ability to learn and that every child learns differently. I feel that when a child is put in an inviting, organized, and positive classroom environment the learning possibilities are endless. Our school day is filled with hands on centers, flexible literacy and math groups, cooperative learning, independent and group work, and technology. I find it important to teach the students in my class to be proud, responsible, and independent with their work and learning. I use a variety of assessments to help drive the daily instruction in our classroom so that each child’s needs are being met. I also believe that parent/teacher communication is very important! Please make sure to check your child's take home folder and binder daily. Don’t forget to check out our weekly newsletter that will come home on Mondays that will be filled with important classroom information. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
